We are located on the west bank of the Hudson River, just 2 1/2 hours
north of New York City and 1/2 hour south of Albany. By watercraft we
are 3 miles north of the Rip Van Winkle Bridge across from the Middle
Ground Flats — the perfect location whether you are a land lubber or a
seasoned sailor.
Bustling trades for the area included boat building, brick making, and milling centers as well as serving as supply points for inland settlers. The Athens on the Hudson property boasts spectacular views North, South and East to the Middle Ground Flats. Being a secondary channel, the waters are protected from larger commercial traffic. Athens, New York was recently the backdrop for the block buster movie "War of the Worlds" starring Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning. The area is a combination of lovely Victorian homes, bed and breakfasts, waterfront parks and upscale lake community. |
